To keep your Spiio soil sensor running efficiently and securely, occasional firmware updates are necessary. These updates enhance sensor performance and ensure compatibility with the latest GreenCast Connect features.

Important: Firmware updates should not be performed while the sensor is underground. Please ensure the device is removed from soil and fully accessible before proceeding.

How Will You Know a Firmware Update is Available?

Firmware updates are not automatic and must be manually initiated. Here's how you’ll know an update is ready:

  • Notification in the GreenCast Connect app

  • Communication via email from our support team (if applicable)

  • Direct contact from GreenCast Connect support during onboarding or troubleshooting

Once you’ve confirmed an update is needed, follow the steps below to successfully complete the process.

Firmware Update Instructions

1. Start the Firmware Update

  • Remove the sensor from the ground before beginning the update.

  • Place the magnet securely on top of the device until notified to ensure the device is ready to update.

Important: Wait for Update Activation
At this point, our Support Team will:

  • Enable the firmware update activation

  • Notify the customer when the update is ready to begin

Once notified, remove the magnet from the device. This triggers the firmware update process:

  • The sensor will go through an initial connection flashing sequence:

    • Flashes blue once (indicates power-on).

    • Flashes white twice (indicates connection process).

    • Flashes green (indicates a successful connection).

2. Firmware Update Flashing Sequence

Once connected, the firmware update will begin automatically. The sensor will display the following light signals:

  • Flashes blue and white twice → Indicates the device is receiving the firmware update.

  • Flashes blue continuously → The update is in progress (this takes approximately 10 minutes).

Important: Do not interfere with the device during the update process.

3. Reset the Device After Updating

Once the update process is complete:

  • Place the magnet back on the device and hold it for at least 1 minute to reset the sensor.

  • After resetting, the device is ready for installation.

4. Troubleshooting Issues (Red Light or Other Errors)

If a red light or any unexpected color appears:

  • Place the magnet on the device for at least 10 minutes.

  • After waiting, remove the magnet and repeat steps 1-4 to restart the firmware update.

  • If the issue persists, ensure the device has a stable signal and try again.

5. Ready for Installation

Once the flashing sequence completes successfully, and no red lights appear:
